Broken Rice is named after cơm tấm — a grain once considered too small, too broken to matter. We think it turned out to be the best thing on the table.
What the name means

What the name means

Cơm tấm was the rice left behind after milling — sold cheaply, eaten without fanfare. Over time it became a beloved staple, proof that humble can mean deeply good.

The meals we grew up with

Broken Rice started with food that doesn't need a special occasion — grilled meats, warm rice, pickled vegetables, eaten without ceremony. Simple. Genuinely good.
